i dunno what to do anymore....

Post by BaggedSplash on Mon Apr 06, 2009 6:04 pm

as many of you know, i had my daily driver (2004 Mazda 3) in the shop to get the head replaced. well the shop got it all back together and its making the same sound it was making before. they are pretty positive its the number 4 piston wrist pin. the shop owner talked to me and is gonna get me some options price wise and i told him i honestly dont have that much money to get my car fixed and that i already have $1100 into it right now with the parts, the head and the labor. the way i look at it after i get the car fixed i have several options:

1. sell the Ranger (i already have an offer for $3000) and use the money to get the car fixed and use the rest of the money for whatever....like bag the Mazda if i have enough money left over.
2. sell the Ranger and trade in the Mazda after its fixed to get something else. i have no idea what i would get.
3. bring the Mazda home, not have the shop fix it and let it sit until i can get it fixed. this option would mean no shows for me for awhile and no work on the Ranger either since i would have to continue driving it daily until i get the Mazda fixed.

im just fed up with everything. i dont know what to do. i dont want to get rid of my Ranger but if its something i need to do then i will do it. i still owe quite a bit on the Mazda is the only thing. i ask you guys for help. what should i do? i have no clue about engines so fixing it myself is NOT an option unless one of you all knows alot about engines and is willing to help me out. thanks guys!!

No matter what I would look into getting rid of the Mazda, as much trouble as your having now, I would be afraid to see what else could go wrong if you kept it....I would hate to see you get rid of the ranger tho...but sounds like it may be your only option...Sounds like a good time to cut your losses and start over fresh.

yeah i agree with Paco on gettin rid of the mazda for sure...just find a cheap daily driver, that you can pay cash for. I bought a 94 Jimmy for $750 and it runs like a champ. (knock on wood)

I would start by getting all the numbers down
$3000 offer on the Ranger
$xxxx.xx owed on the mazda
$xxxx.xx mazda trade in value or xxxx.xx mazda if you sell it and drive the ranger untill it's sold.

once you have all the numbers worked out the answer should present itself as to what you can afford to do.

deff get rid of the mazda, its not worth the trouble. if you have the truck paid off, id park it, put it on parking insurance, get something reliable for a daily, hate 2 say it but either a toy or a nissan n go from there. though there are some gms now that are almost 95 percent toyota.

Brian, first off, that SUX man. Damn car is a 04. No reason it should be fucking up already. Warranty???
Buy anyway, here's my opinion kk
1. Don't bag your DD man.
2. Sell em both and buy a honda, seriously you won't have problems with it if its newer. Then when you get the $ get a project truck.
3. Go to shows and have fun!

i went out today to look at some vehicles to trade my Mazda 3 in on. here is my top choice:

its a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer. heres what it has:
- V8 engine
- towing package
- leather interior
- 4x4

its a pretty nice truck. i drove it around. the shifting was smooth and it breaks really well. it has 56k miles on it and the dealership only wants $6k for it which im sure i can talk them down on. i dunno about whether or not i can get financed yet or not since its so old, but i should know something by monday. but this is what im looking at. oh and sorry for the semi-bad pic, it was taken with my cell phone.
