I feel your pain man... Just got word yesterday that the company I work for is hiring 2 extra people to keep up with all the work we have to do. BUT... the four of us that are already there are getting our hours cut to 31 a week. This will cut us out of health insurance, vacation and other benefits...

:::UPDATE:::

So I waited for just about 4 hours today in line at Holiday Inn, in Joliet right off I80 and Larkin to fill out an application to work for a warehouse that will be opening soon. Its called Centrella foods. They are looking to hire 130 people..

Why did I wait in line you might ask?

Because they are going to pay union rates and they are with the Teamsters Local 703..

after 18 months I can be making $22.81 an hour for order pickers (current scale) and thats really what I could use.

During my fun time in line and getting rained on for a little, then stop, then it would do it some more, I sent a txt to my boss saying I wont be coming in today for work (not working for an hour and a half wont kill my wallet on this current pay rate) And my brother said he finally realized Im looking to leave him and he was concerned and was asking where I was applying..

Although chances of me getting this job are low because of how many people actually applied, I hope to god I get this job.. I wont hear anything for three weeks.. I have nothing to lose, figured I would give it a shot.


And you Chicago area people watch WGN news tonight. They showed up..You can see how long the lines were. The photographer for a newspaper (cant recall which one) was snapping pictures of people filling out an application. He was right around me snapping pics.
