My boss is a prick

So today I found out I got a pay cut. My boss gave me a piece of paper to sign saying effective
immediatly your pay gets cut 25% and wouldnt give me a check until I
signed it. Then hands me a check from last week with my 25% pay cut
already taken out.. even though immeditaetly is Feb 20th and not the 9th which is what the check was dated.

So its time to find a new job in this shitty economy! Wish me luck.. I made more working at wal-mart. Pretty sad I work construction too..

Shouldnt have signed the paper...he can not legally hold your check from you because you dont sign a paper to accept a paycut...thats just strong arm tactics...could have sued him if he hadn't payed you because you didnt sign...probably not much you can do now tho...
sucks to hear...My work is going down the shitter right now because of this economy...I made 42k last year with all the over time I had, this year I am going to be lucky to break 30k with the plant shutdowns every other friday....good luck on the job search bro!

sucks to hear that Dave, I wouldnt have signed it either but what is done is done. I would suggest going to one of those temp agencies to help find work. The part time guy that works for me had up to 4 job offers through on of those companies. JIMMY

I believe that if the check is dated from last week, and the paperwork is dated from the 20th, you can call the labor board and get that 25% added back on your check. That is illegal as hell. But you might need a copy of it too. Good luck with the job hunt, ans let me know what kind of tools you got too, my dad and I might be interested

Sorry for the long post in advance.. Im stressin and getting stuff off my mind

I realise I shouldnt have signed the paper, but the douche bag wouldnt even show the envelope the check was in, until I signed his little gay ass paper..once I signed he gave me the sealed envelope. I walked back to my brothers car (he was driving me to work) and finally opened my check to see my new pay.. and guess what, my boss magically already left before I could say soemthing to him about it.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the paper I signed said 'effective immediately'... I take immediately as 3:34 on Friday (when I signed it) and Monday would / should start the pay cut.. So how come my check from 2 weeks ago is already have my paycut on it? Can he legally do that?

Anyways, I still cant believe this prick pulled something off like that. I guess I should have seen it coming though... I mean he has two employee's (my brother and I) and there would be some weeks where he couldnt have our checks and ready for us by Friday which is payday.. I mean really.. how hard is it to sign two checks for your only 2 employees..

Oh and btw, this is how much of a piece of shit this guy is.. Back in December I gave him my paintball gun, my nitrous tank, and the barrell kit for the gun because he claimed to have someone interested in buying it. While we were slow and werent working for two weeks, the trailer got broken into (SUPPOSEBLY) and they stole some stuff, then broke into his garage and stole my paintball stuff..Well for the past month and a half I have been asking him 'wheres my money for my paintball shit' and he has been giving me the answer of 'Oh when I get the insurance money'.. So pissed off yesterday I sent him a txt saying have my paintball money by monday, and he replied with 'I dont take demands like that. Instead you will be getting all your paintball stuff back' ... I THOUGHT IT WAS STOLEN!!!!! ..

Would any of you have guessed this is my brothers brother in law..?

yeah dave that is illegal...immediatley means at the time you sign it not last weeks pay. Did you get a copy of it? And did you pay attention to the date on it? If no copy he can say that you signed it 2 weeks ago, and then you are screwed. I thought I remember you sayin something about him being family or whatnot. I paintball his f-in house when I got it back!!

yea who knows maybe every thing that was "Stolen" is still sitting in some ones garage or sitting in another trailer since it was slow and all you would not believe some of the things people would try and pull just so they can get some money...

and yea if you have a copy then you should be ok if not then im sorry man their is not to much "Legally" you can do.. on the other hand... you can always rig something up all you need to do is get something with his sig on it and write up your own thing with the date and what not on it so it looks like you both signed and dated it... ** if he wants to play dirty, it can be played two ways **

I would say call the labor board and tell them the situation. And when they find out, they jump right on it, I called the labor board bout my old boss not payin me my hours, they called back in two hours and transferred the money into my account. Companies won't mess with the labor board
