puttin tranny fluid in a five speed?

is it true that you can put tranny fluid in the tranny thru the shifter....f course after you take off the shifter ...i cant find were the fluid goes. i have done it on an automatic but not a five spped some suggestions would be great if any one can help.

yes you have to remove the shifter on top of the trans and pour it in......... or I believe there is a plug on the pass. side of trans about half way up or so......... with the plug ..I used to use the cap from a gear lube bottle and put it on your quart of oil..... then use a long enough piece of clear hose, big enough to fit over the cone shaped cap tightly....... hold the quart upside down...... obviously higher than the trans and squeeze the fluid out......... keep adding until the fluid starts pouring out of the same hole you are filling through.............. anyone want to second me this???????? that is how I used to fill them!!!

Same here. I took the shifter off so I could get to the filler hole from the top. Now I just have a huge "syringe" that I use to push fluid in hard to reach places
