Sams Drag Wagon

Post by Guilty By Design on Sun Feb 01, 2009 2:47 am

I built the cage in this car about a year ago. Its an 8 point cage that is NHRA certified for 8.50s. Since i put the cage in hes been building the suspension, wiring harness, motor, ect and hes almost ready to get it running. He took it to KC to have the cage certified and it turns out the rocker bars arent thick enough by .003''. All tubing has to be .125'' wall thickness and i guess our steelyard doesnt keep close tolerances on their shit. So he brought it back and i replaced the bars and it passed.

I also built the rear half of the floor

The problem bar

Removed

and finished

The car runs now and will be running this year.

Sam was talking about cutting the cage out after this very race and having me build a chromoly 25.5 cage rated for 7.50s. If he still wants to wee gonna have to get to cutting soon.
