84 Isuzu Pup

Post by SunDown on Sat Aug 15, 2009 12:23 am

Not sure if you all have seen this before or not. I bought this as a replacement a year after I got rid of my s10. Wasn't really what I was looking for, wanted a Toyota Stout or Datsun 320 to bag and enjoy. But this is what I ended up finding.

It was a tow behind on a RV for years. Evidently it came loose at some point and ran into the back of the RV causing a bit of front end damage. I got it for a song and it’s been a toy to jack around with for 6 years now, lol, I move slowly. My wife bought me a Mooneyes surfboard rear view mirror the first Christmas I had it, and the mirror was literally more expensive than the truck... its all downhill from there I guess.

I shaved the drip rails, the cab seams, fuel filler door, antennae hole, side mirrors, fabbed brackets to mount a 91
Toyota bumper and valence. Has 38" long lowers and 40" uppers for the triangulated four link. She still has the 1.9L four, but it has an engine driven york compressor. I am trying to decide on what I want to do for an engine swap.

In any case I just fabbed up the bumper brackets and got the bumper mounted for the first time in 6 years last week. I hurried and took some pics so here she is. There is deff a lot more body work and misc things that are in store for it, but at least its not too embarrassing looking now.

Thank you for the kind words! My little girl loves to "hit side to sides" in it! I try and get her out to as many club functions and cruise ins that I can.

I am anxious to get going on my 53 F100 next. But there are still things I want to wrap up on this truck before I dive head long into it.

thank you. Since I posted last it was shot for a local calendar. The model is a friend of the club so I managed to get all the pics. here are some better shots:

I think she sent me something like 40 or so photos and all are good but these are about the best of the group with my truck in it...
