need help making a kinda big decision

Post by Lagz2point0 on Mon Jul 20, 2009 12:46 am

ive got an 88 ranger. 2.9 v6. im in the process of baggin and sfbd it right now. issue** the rediculously large intake manifold on this motors gonna have me stickin five inches higher than the hood when its all said and done. SOLUTION** motor swap. this motors only got 80k on it, but its already got a junk yard trans, and about every thing that COULD leak on this motor DOES leak. i reaaaally wanna swap in an sr20 out of a 240sx... or should i stay simple with it and put a retro ford 4cyl in?

2.3L turbo motor out of a Thunderbird turbo coupe OR you could get a 302 v8

modify your engine mounts to at least get an inch out of that....then get a 4" cowl hood!

when you get into doing swaps like a sr20 you get into a wireing nightmare not to say you cant do it or not to do it .. just way more work a 302 way easer and more power ... same with the 2.3t bolts right up more power
