Post by Generation-X on Wed Jun 10, 2009 3:03 pm

Now that I hopefully got the right attention. Im looking to get a new camera and not break the bank, gotta use the funds to work on the truck Smile Found a camera that is 14 megapixel

What do you think of that one? Should I go for it...right now I have a olympus 6mp camera that works decent but nowhere near near or up to date

my word of advice...i understand you dont want to break the bank but think about it as if you are going to be taking pictures just to take or you want to take some good ones and plan to upgrade possibly in the future...my mistake was buying 2 point and shoot cameras when all along i wanted a good DSLR...it was money wasted....nikon has super nice point and shoots along with canon...

i guess the best question to ask is what are you wanting it for..everyday snap shots or to do actual photography....
if its for everyday snapshots and you dont plan on blowing it up beyond 20x30 you dont need more than a 8- 10 mp camera anyhow...
if you are wanting to get into actual photography save your cash and buy a DSLR...if you go the DSLR route plan on dropping around $1000 for a body and a couple good "kit" lenses...

heres a nice used EOS 10D body at B&H for $259
just need to buy a lens for it..its a 6.3 mp camera but a super nice camera...would be great for someone getting into photography..link
Just so you know B&H is probably the BEST place on line to buy camera equipment from...and they even warranty their used stuff...

Nice pics...a little bright for me, but i like my pics dark...good choice going with the Canon thumbsup

One thing i would recommend is set your ISO at 100 for sunny outside shots,,,the higher the iso the more "noise" your going to get in your pics..I shoot ISO at 400 for dim lit inside shots...

Yeah the 400 was the 1st shot and then 100 and then 200. Im still experimenting and figuring out what works best. I had issues at first cause my good settings only worked with a certain angle (DOH!)

Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/9.0
Focal Length: 6.4 mm
ISO Speed: 80

And thanks for the bookmark!!!

I use Paint Shop Pro X2 for all my editing, its easy to use and understand and there are a lot of tutorials out there for it..I bought a book off Amazon for it as well that was really helpful
